1 How did you attract/address your audience?

2 I attracted and addressed my audience in various different ways, for example through mise- en -scene cinematography and sound.

3 Enigma codes When planning my thriller, I had to consider what narrative pleasures that our audience would gain from watching our film, because most audience are very interested in the narratives, and without that, it risks loosing a large percentage of its audience. This is where I had to carefully consider the narrative structure of my thriller, as I had to hold the audiences attention, set up and establish characters, settings, and story lines in just under two minutes. I decided from the begging that establishing the characters was always going to be the main aspect of importance within my thriller, but in order to maintain the audiences attention, I would have to use enigmas and build suspense to keep the audience focused and hooked into our thriller. One of the ways in which we created enigmatic codes, is by not choosing to reveal the antagonists entire face for half of the establishing sequence, which although does not seem long, is frustrating and puzzling to the audience, as it makes them want to find out who this person is. We then drop more enigmatic elements into the scene, by showing the man walking into a teenage girls room, and sinisterly watching her and stroking her hair. The main close up of the antagonist stroking her hair once again makes the audience question who he is, what he's doing and why. This creepy enigma code is also similar to the one used in the opening sequence of gone girl.

4 How I attracted my audience from the begging through cinematography
We didn’t want our audience’s attention to our film disappear, so we made sure it was slightly confusing and gripping so the viewers would want to know what happens next. I wanted our target audience to be drawn into our film straight away so we made the protagonist mysterious and suspicious and made the main character to be relatable to the audience, like what other thriller/horror films tend to do. My main character is a typical teenage girl so the audience would instantly relate to her and seek her to do well. This is a good factor to have in our film as it engages the teenagers in my audience.

5 Using shots to keep my audience engaged
This shot may appeal to fans of the thriller genre, as the over the shoulder shot gives the viewer the impression that the character is being watched. It also draws attention the fact he is watching her through the window. This shot is followed by a point of view shot of the antagonist looking in at the girl through the window. Fans of the horror genre may have noticed that if a character is being ‘watched’, they’re usually killed soon after, which Is why I chose these shots as I wanted to suggest that the girl is in danger and to foreshadow a murder. This helps attract my audience as these shots help signify that something bad is about to happen to the girl keeping the audience very engaged.

6 Sound and music I wanted my opening sequence to only have non-diegetic music at the begging to create a more gripping atmosphere. I wanted it to change and get faster and more intense when the antagonist emerges in the house and carefully approaches the protagonist. I feel that by just having the non diegetic music here, really helped just highlight the danger, and made the audience not want to take there eyes of him as they were so intrigued into what he was up to.
