Irony in Titanic Objective(s): Differentiate between fictional and non-fictional elements of “Titanic” by engaging in class discussion and answering questions at the end of reading. WARM UP 1/26/2009[5 min] Last week we discussed the definition of a real “hero”—someone brave, willing to sacrifice him/herself for other people, etc. Today, we are reading “Titanic,” a real ship that sunk and killed thousands of people back in the early 1900’s. Imagine that you are on board the “Titanic” as it is sinking—what are your thoughts/feelings. Would you worry about saving others, or saving yourself? Explain your answer. Timer
