PoL Requirements Did you meet our Big Goal of receiving a 3 (or a B) or higher on every Unit? If you did not: Present on the ENTIRE unit with the lowest mastery score (like last semester) Evidence: Exams, homework, exit slips Present a grade defense in which you defend what grade you feel that you deserve Present a reflection in which you discuss the study skills you will carry over to next year to be successful in Biology If you did: Present last two bullet points
2
Basic Information You will have 5-6 minutes to demonstrate your mastery of ONE unit that we have covered this semester among the following: Unit 4: Stoichiometry Unit 5: Solutions and Acids & Bases Unit 7: Thermochemistry You will be presenting on EVERY learning target we have covered within a unit. This translates to roughly one minute per learning target. As long as you rehearse and are prepared, this should be plenty of time to explain the content. I do not mind which unit you choose to present on, although I would suggest that you choose the unit that you demonstrated the least mastery of.

Some Suggestions I do not have any requirements regarding order or format of your slides. However, here are my recommendations: Roughly 1-2 slides per learning target. Make sure that you EXPLAIN BOTH the essential skills AND your examples. "This shows that I mastered the content because I received a '3.5'" is not sufficient demonstration of your mastery. You may choose to either explain the essential skill WITH your examples or explain the essential skill and THEN explain your examples afterwards. If you choose to explain your examples after you explain the essential skill, I would suggest using seconds to explain the essential skill and seconds to explain your evidence.

Learning Target Title: Suggested Slide Format
A couple of lines explaining the learning target Perhaps some definitions of key terms Picture of Evidence (ONE problem) Bullet point explanation of evidence Don’t forget to be able to explain it well verbally, as well Do not rely on what you type on your slideshow
5
Grade Defense Tell me what grade you think you deserve in my class
Explain why (evidence would be nice to use here)
6
Study Skills Reflection
What study skills did you use this year that you think will benefit you next year? List and explain them here.
7
Make sure that you are prepared for my Q & A session
Make sure that you are prepared for my Q & A session. I may ask you to further explain a concept, further explain your evidence, or complete a problem on the board. This will be factored into your PoL score. I would suggest looking over past homework, study guides, and exams for practice. As always, I will provide feedback on ANYTHING you send me, including Powerpoint slides, scripts, or notecards Best of luck!
