Think & Share The closest relatives of the homo sapiens are chimpanzees. Think to yourself… How are we different from chimpanzees? (Or any other animals for that matter?) At your table, discuss your ideas. Be prepared to share.

Write On a sheet of paper, make a list of the social groups that the protagonist in your novel belongs to. This list can include a group from any point in their life. How did their involvement with a social group impact their choices and the trajectory of their life?

share Share what you wrote and think at your table. Oldest person goes first. Then be prepared to show with the class!

Write Turn your paper over. Make a list of the social groups that the YOU belong to. This can include a group from any point in your life. Then free-write about the affect of these groups of people (or lack of) on you. How did your involvement with a social group impact your choices and the trajectory of your life? Finally, write about the commonalities between yourself and the protagonist of your book. What is similar between you? What all do you share in common?
