Planning a Multimedia Package Web

Three basic package structures
Story-plus Menu of choices Guided narrative
3
Story-plus model The core of the package is a singular story.
Multimedia components supplement the story, but may not stand alone. Multimedia components serve to enhance the reader’s experience but do not “replace” the core story.

Menu of choices Instead of a singular central narrative, the package offers readers multiple angles. Angles may be explored through a variety of media (some written, others in video, some interactive graphics, etc.) Readers enter through a menu that allows them to choose where they want to begin. There is no set “starting point.”

Guided narrative There may be multiple stories and angles, but readers are guided through each one by the design of the package. After reaching the end of one part, readers are directed to the next, then the next, and so on. Readers have little choice in direction, which allows the journalist to decide what order they will encounter the different parts of the story.
