Plot Plot is the sequence of events in a narrative. It is structured around a conflict or problem, and is divided into the following parts: Antecedent Action Exposition Inciting Incident Rising Action Climax Falling Action Resolution (Denouement)

Antecedent Action The history that exists before the story starts

Exposition Introduces characters and setting (location, time, and situation)

Inciting Incident The one event that starts the conflict in motion

Rising Action Several Events that intensify the conflict

Climax Moment of greatest intensity, suspense, and interest.

Falling Action Events that lead to the end, or the resolution

Resolution (Denouement)
The ending where all conflicts are resolved

TERM: Foreshadowing The author’s way of hinting at what will come later in the plot "Simba, let me tell you something my father told me. Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you. And so will I."

Situation “The Cask of Amontillado” illustrates how a person can become so obsessed with revenge that he or she descends into madness and commits unspeakable acts. The main character, Montresor, has vowed to avenge the unnamed insults of Fortunato, an old acquaintance. The vengeful Montresor lures and traps Fortunato in the catacombs below Montresor’s house while the carnival rages above them.
