The h-index The h-index reflects both the number of publications and the number of citations per publication A scholar with an index of h has published h papers each of which has been cited by others at least h times E.g. 1: X has published one paper which has been cited 23 times (h-index = 1) E.g. 2: Y has published 23 papers, only one of which has been cited, and this just once (h-index = 1) E.g. 3: Z has published 5 papers, one cited 5 times, one twice, one once, and two never (h-index = 2)
