2. RDA Europe 4.0
The European plug-in to the Research Data Alliance (RDA)
Launched in March 2018, RDA Europe 4.0 is mandated to become the centrepiece for an EU Open Science Strategy, providing skilled, voluntary resources from the EU investment to address Digital Single Market issues, also through a dedicated open cascading grant process.

3. The RDA European network of nodes
RDA EU 4.0 has recently established a network of national/regional nodes to foster adoption of RDA outputs in the region, and thereby enable interoperability and data sharing on a global scale
The goal is to bring in an additional 13 nodes in stages over the project lifetime

4. What is a EU regional/national node?
A node can be a single organisation, or a group of organisations, representing one or more countries, committed to support research data policies at national or regional level, promoting research data management best practices and solutions and actively engaged in the Research Data Alliance.

The RDA nodes receive «seed funding» via the RDA Europe project.

5. What does an RDA Node do?
Support data research at regional / national / local level, promoting the RDA vision and results through events, workshops and meetings ensuring capillary uptake of RDA principles and lowering cultural/language barrier
Synergise with national, European and global organisations in concrete actions to facilitate the uptake of RDA recommendations and principles
Act as central contact point between the national / regional data practitioners and RDA, interacting with national research funding bodies
Contribute to the definition of European data policies to support the future data economy reaping the benefits of FAIR data
Contribute to the definition of RDA’s strategy and participate in RDA processes and governance

7. Open Calls for Adoption Grants
RDA Europe 4.0 is offering 8 grants to support the adoption of RDA Recommendations and Outputs.

Expected outputs:
Carry out small-scale projects to demonstrate and disseminate adoption of RDA’s outputs and ICT Technical Specifications.
