1 Making Poetry F.I.T.: Your 2017 Poetry Responses

2 First - FACTS Indisputable information: Who is the author?
Who is the speaker? What is the form? Is there a rhyme scheme? If so, what is it? What is happening in the poem? What images are developed? LIST facts.

3 Now, INTERPRET: What is the tone? (How does the speaker feel?)
What indicates this tone? (Is it the diction, syntax, etc.?) How does the form fit in with this tone? Are there figurative devices that emphasize this tone? How does the poem make you feel? (This is mood.) Find at least FIVE pieces that support this mood/tone.

4 Finally, the THEME: What revelation about life do these facts and interpretations lead to? IMPORTANT: be able to pinpoint WHICH FACTS support this revelation IMPORTANT: be able to explain HOW the interpretative elemenst support this revelation

5 Use a CHART: Speaker Setting Images Form Situation Interpretaion
