Genetic ablation of genes encoding PI3K components blocked the prostate tumorigenesis caused by PTEN loss. Genetic ablation of genes encoding PI3K components blocked the prostate tumorigenesis caused by PTEN loss. A–E, in anterior prostate (AP) tumors, ablation of Pik3cb, not Pik3ca, impaired PTEN loss–induced tumorigenesis. F–I, in the VP, ablation of Pik3ca or Pik3cb failed to affect PTEN loss–induced tumorigenesis. J, concurrent ablation of both Pik3ca and Pik3cb restored the normal ductal structure of PTEN-null prostate tumors in the VP. HG-PIN lesions are labeled with an arrow, and regular ductal structure, labeled with arrowheads, feature a single epithelial layer, small amounts of stroma, and abundant secreted proteins. Prostates shown are from mice at the age of 12 weeks. Shidong Jia et al. Cancer Discovery 2013;3:44-51 ©2013 by American Association for Cancer Research
