API Change: Understanding how API can increase or decrease
2
Why did some schools loose API?
NOT JACKMAN 3% of BASIC Dropped To FBB and BB
3
If those students had maintained…
Each of these students would have each contributed 700 points towards API, instead of 200 (FBB), and 500 (BB) When students drop they contribute less points, when they gain they contribute more points 3% of BASIC Dropped TO FBB and BB
4
What did Jackman do? 7th grade did a great job of Lowering FBB and BB and raising Proficient!
5
What did Jackman do? This helped us overall as our FBB decreased by 2% and moved into the next bandwidth (now contributing 500 points to our API instead of 200) PR/AD also grew by 1%
6
How do we make sure we keep moving our students in every bandwidth?
We can support and move our students.
7
We can support and move our students.
By using common formative assessments and checks for understanding to monitor and adjust and differentiate instruction we can ensure student learning. We can support and move our students.
8
If we don’t, we risk losing API but more important we risk losing our students
