The traditional focus • Peter was impulsive; took his eyes of Jesus—looked at his circumstances not Jesus and therefore started to sink; rebuked and returned to safety. My focus is going to be: Peter’s courage commitment call choice and changed life.

Point to ponder (P to P): Those who respond to the call of God don’t live perfect lives but because they say yes they learn and grow especially from their failures. Mk 14:22,23 — Jesus made his disciples… and then went to pray Mk 14:24—storm (P to P) Obedience is no guarantee of being spared adversity.

Matt 14:27-33 Have courage! It is I Peter: If…then…command me. So Jesus: come (follow ) and Peter got out! Put yourself in Peter’s shoes— What would you choose? The Boat or The Stormy sea. If you want to walk on water you have to get out of the boat.

What is your boat? {My boat is whatever represents safety and security to me apart from God} If you want to know your boat examine your fear(s). They will let you know. Job • ministry • relationships • secrecy • success or failure …

Matt 14:27-33 Peter—see’s the wind The Eleven—safe, secure, logical but did not experience what Peter did. They did worship but after the fact. How often we do that.

Application If and when you get out of the boat:
You will face the winds and sorms of life. You will experience failure(s) but realize failure does not shape you, the way you respond to failure shapes you.
