2. What is a veterinarian?
Veterinarians job is to prevent and treat illnesses and injuries in animals. They might specialize in a type of veterinary medicine, such as surgery, or a group of animals, such as farm animals, home pets, or wildlife.

“Completion of a minimum of two years of a university undergraduate degree program. Applications to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program may be submitted during a student's third year.
Completion of eight university-level required courses: cell biology; biochemistry; genetics; statistics; two biological sciences; and two humanities and/or social sciences.

veterinary school is a four-year degree program following undergraduate Bachelor’s degree level education (a total of 7 to 9 years: 3 to 5 years undergraduate plus 4 years of veterinary school). After graduating from veterinary school, many new graduates choose an additional year of general or specialty clinical training as interns. Some choose to do additional 2 to 5 years of residency training leading to boarding certification and practice within a wide variety of medical and surgical specialties.
