Premise You will take on the persona of an inventor looking for an investor to finance mass production of your latest and greatest creation

Premise The inventor/invention will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis You will be provided a list of inventions to choose from

Research You will have to research the invention and be able to discuss it at length Why was it invented? Inspiration? What is its purpose? How does it work? What is its impact? And so on, and so on, etc.

Research We will spend the entire class period on Monday, November 7 in the library The library will have set aside about 20 books to sift through in conducting your research Use the library time wisely!

Written Component You will write a five-paragraph summary of your invention Introduction & Conclusion Other possible paragraph topics How it changed the world Why it was invented Written component will have its own grade, which will be scored based on the school-wide writing rubric

Written Component Your five-paragraph essay MUST include a minimum of two REFERENCE materials In other words, you must use at least two books! You may use more than two reference materials You may use internet resources (other than Wikipedia) in addition to the reference materials NO WIKIPEDIA! “in addition to the reference materials” means you can use a credible Web site to help, but must still have at least two reference materials

Written Component A bibliography or citation/references page must be included in addition to the five paragraphs MLA format easybib.com may be used to aid you Written component is due on Nov. 17 LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE DEDUCTED 25% FOR EVERY DAY THEY ARE LATE You have almost three weeks to do this!

The Game… On November 17 and 18, you will try to collect as much money as possible from possible investors based on the invention you have chosen

The Game… Each person will have three minutes to explain what their invention is, why its important, and explain why investors should give you their money After those three minutes are up, you will answer questions from any and all of the potential investors

The Game… Each person in the class will have $100 to invest in inventions by others Can’t invest in your own invention $40 cap on investing in any one invention Can invest in no more than 10 inventions

The Game… The person who gets the most money invested in their invention wins and will get a perfect score for presentation Second greatest amount will get second best grade on presentation Third greatest amount will get third best grade on presentation And so on, and so on
