Your freshman year grades do count! All four years are factored into your GPA, which all colleges will view while reviewing your application. Your GPA is also taken into consideration for scholarships.

7 How will GPA and my class rank help me?
GPA is short for Grade Point Average- your GPA is a average of all your grades throughout high school and is updated twice a year. Freshmen Fall Semester English Language Arts Honors A=5 points Algebra A=4 points Biology A=4 points Health A=4 points Spanish A=4 points Ceramics A=4 points Total /6=GPA of 4.16 *honors courses allow you to earn an extra point so your GPA average can be above 4.0 How will GPA and my class rank help me?

9 Are Advanced Classes right for me?
Honors and AP classes are on a 5 point scale and look good to selective and Honors colleges, as well as scholarship committees. Advanced classes are more challenging and will do you more harm than good if you are getting C’s or below in them. Advanced classes will help you prepare to be more successful in a college setting.

The best thing you can do your freshman year is work hard in your academic courses, and challenge yourself. Get involved in activities you enjoy and can learn from. Have you thought about all your commitments? Do you have a good balance between academics, activities, family, etc????? What will set you apart when your high school career is over?

16 What is the WUE??? WUE (pronounced “woo-wee”) is the Western Undergraduate Exchange, and it is coordinated by WICHE. WUE is a regional tuition-reciprocity agreement that enables students from WICHE states to enroll in more than 150 participating two- and four-year public institutions at 150 percent of the enrolling institution’s resident tuition. WUE is the largest program of its kind in the nation, and has been in operation since 1987! WUE is not a short term exchange—it is meant to be used for a full degree.
