2. 2 Peter 1: 5-7
5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

Makrothumia: longsuffering, also: the kind of patience you have with people, the opposite is revenge
Makro—bigger than
Thumia--desire
Hupomoné: the kind of patience you have with tough circumstances, the opposite is cowardice or giving up, like a plant wrestling against a rock
Hupo—under

4. Hupomoné
Not so much passive but actively resisting, growing up against
Commentator William Barclay defines hupomone as "having the quality to stand, facing the storm, struggling against difficulty and opposition." It is a quality that makes progress against a trial, rather than merely waiting a difficulty out.

5. James 1:2-4
2 Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect (desired) result, so that you may be perfect (mature) and complete, lacking in nothing.
