ambiguity a word or expression that can be understood in two or more possible ways ; unclear Example: We saw her duck. Did she bend down? Or did she have a duck with her? What do you see in this picture ?

persona A mask or voice for a first-person narrator.
a character assumed by an author in a written work Example: Poe created Montresor’s persona as secretive, intense, vengeful, and perhaps a little insane.

indifferent does not matter one way or the other
lack of care or concern Example: The boy acted indifferent when his parents took his phone away for getting bad grades.

Suspense mental uncertainty or excitement, usually accompanied by a degree of apprehension or anxiety, while awaiting what may happen Example: The storyline kept us in suspense until the very end.

allegory Characters, actions, and settings stand for abstract ideas (something beyond itself). Has a straightforward surface meaning, but also stands for something larger than itself Examples: Death, Justice, Deceit, Vanity Death came knocking on his door. The Hunger Games is an example of allegory: The Capitol is like Hollywood The game is like our obsession with reality TV
