Academic Representation is the system used for feeding back the student voice. The three main areas consist of the following: Highlights – What are the best parts of a students course and student experience. Improvements – What’s not going so well, but looked at in regards to improvements that can be made rather than just a complaint. Ideas – What isn’t in place at the moment that could enhance the course?

5 Course Level Portfolio Level Faculty Level
Broadly speaking, representation at UoB can be broken down into three main areas. Course – This is related to specific courses and the groups of students involved within them. Each course has course team meetings and certain courses in will have Student Staff Liaison Forums being trialled. Portfolio – This is a grouping of similar courses that revolve around the same core subject. Each portfolio has an executive committee that discusses the enhancement of the group of courses. Faculty – There are four faculties which are a grouping of schools and departments. Each portfolio has a Faculty Academic Board that has overview of the faculty.

7 Training Opportunities Meetings Development
The development of the Academic Representation system is run by the Students’ Union Why should you become an Academic Representative? Training – Beds SU will be running training sessions every 4 weeks, these are an essential opportunity to learn about how to function in an Academic Representative role. Opportunities – There are loads of great opportunities that come up throughout the year Meetings – The meetings you can get involved in are the perfect place to get to know your course team, to learn how the university works, and how to develop the curriculum of yourself and your peers. Development – You will be able to access a great range of employability development sessions coordinated by Beds SU.
