InfoShare A Distributed P2P Information Storage & Retrieval System
Kaustubh Supekar Ravi Khemani Sreeparvathy Pillai
2
Introduction Peer-to-peer computing has suddenly emerged as the forefront of Internet computing in areas such as file sharing, collaboration, and information sourcing & discovery. Some of the advantages of P2P computing are Scalability Low Cost Strong Affinity Groups Nodes work in collaboration and send request messages to other nodes in the network for sharing of information.
3
Problem Statement Retrieval from the web provided outdated information without protecting user anonymity and authentication. Current P2P systems have slow downloads. Downloads can be done from only from one peer No intelligency present in routing requests
4
Existing Solutions File sharing (Napster, Gnutella)
Group collaboration (Jxta [Sun]) Distributed storage (FreeNet) Distributed computation
5
Our Solution Distributed retrieval of information
InfoShare is a pure Peer-to-peer network that will allow files to be inserted, stored and requested anonymously with efficient dynamic storage and routing of information and decentralization of all network functions. Distributed retrieval of information Efficient Routing mechanism Intelligent Peers Anonymity
6
Technology Used Java Message Service (JMS)
Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) JBuilder x.0 Microsoft Access

DEMO
28
Accomplishment Design and implementation of proprietary InfoShare Retrieval Protocol (ISRP). Basic P2P model implementation with a unique feature of distributed retrieval which is not provided by any existing P2P solutions. Developed and implemented algorithm for distributed retrievals. A massive project of about 27 classes and ~5000 lines of code almost completed in a very short duration.
29
Future Work Submitting a paper in ELEVENTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKS , FL, USA Security and encryption Compression for handling different file formats. Backup links in case of failures. Overlay networks. Rigorous experiments for evaluating InfoShare against other existing P2P solutions
