4 Bone Lamella: “little plates”: concentric layers of compact bone
Osteocyte: star-shaped mature bone cell Canaliculus: small passageway to provide nutrition, allow a structure (like a nerve) through it, and waste removal Lacuna: “little lakes” small space containing an osteocyte Central (Haversian) canal: opening in the center of an osteon; carries blood vessels and nerves Osteon: microscopic unit of bone
