2. The beginning of the Ephesian church
Paul returns. (Acts 19:1)
Finds the disciples who had been baptized with John’s baptism (Acts 19:1-3).
Teaches them the difference between John’s baptism and baptism in the name of Christ (Acts 19:4).
John’s baptism conditioned on repentance alone. Baptism commanded by Christ is conditioned on both faith in Christ and repentance from sin (Acts 19:4; 20:21). Preached to Jews and Greeks.
John’s baptism was not administered in Jesus’ name, into the death of Christ (Romans 6:3-4).
Men commanded to be baptized in the name of Christ (Acts 19:5; 10:47). These disciples were then baptized into the name of Christ. Acts 19:5

3. Paul’s message
Preached things concerning the Kingdom of God. (Acts 19:8)
The word of the Lord. (Acts 19:20). The Way. (Acts 19:23)
Preached to Jews and Gentiles, “repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 20:21)
Against images and idolatry, “There are no gods made with hands.” (Acts 19:26)
Taught disciples in separate group. (Acts 19:9)
Taught anything that was profitable publicly and from house to house. (Acts 20:20)
