Phone: Conference M -T - F- 2:30-3:15 W -Th -8:05-8:50 Week of January 15, 2018 1/15- No School 1/19- Pig in a Blanket Day- Bring a blanket, no PJs. 1/29- Progress Reports 2/12-President Posters Due 2/19- No School Macy Sadler Language Arts and Reading- In spelling we will continue to work with r controlled vowels air, are, ear, and ere. The skills we will be working on are drawing conclusions, prefixes, word roots, and alliteration. We will have spelling and vocabulary test this week. Math-We will begin Unit 8. Unit 8 will introduce three digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. Students will use the same skills they learned in Unit 6&7 to extend their learning. I have sent home the homework. Doing one page a night will help students stay on track. Science-Force and Motion Social Studies-Timelines and Presidents Health- Nutrition and Exercise On January 16th, your child will be bringing home a cardstock Presidential poster. There will be a rubric and instructions attached. On the attached note you will find your child’s assigned President to research. We have only ordered enough poster for the amount of students we have. There are NO EXTRAS, so please take good care of the posters. This poster will be a third of your child’s Social Studies grade. They will receive a grade for the completion of the poster, and one for presenting the poster. The posters will be due on February 12th. Your child’s supplies have been kept separate all year long. They have a drawer with their personal supplies. Some students have used all of their crayons and glue. Please ask your child if they need any of their supplies replenished. Please understand we go outside everyday unless it is raining. Please dress your child in weather appropriate clothing. During the second semester of this year we are starting to prepare for 3rd Grade. Please encourage your children to work hard, because the curriculum is going to become more rigorous. Students need 12 points between January 8th – February 16th with an 80% average for the 4th 6 week prize. Second grade students must have 50 points and an 80% average for the Spring Party before May 18th.
