Why do we need this equipment?
Where am I….. Equipment Why is it needed Different foods Bunsen burner Forceps Clamp and stand Boiling tube Water Thermometer 50ml measuring cylinder Top pan balance What level are you working at if you can explain why certain pieces of equipment are needed?
6
Self mark Where am I…..
Equipment Why is it needed Different foods This is what will provide the heat energy Bunsen burner This is to light the food Forceps This is to carefully hold the food under the boiling tube of water Clamp and stand This will hold the boiling tube Boiling tube This will hold 50ml of water Water This will absorb the heat energy from the burning food Thermometer To measure the temperature of the water when it is heated by the food 50ml measuring cylinder This is to precisely measure out the amount of water Top pan balance This is to measure the mass of food being used. What level are you working at if you can explain why certain pieces of equipment are needed?

Finding energy in food What you will be doing
When food burns, it releases chemical energy If the food is burned under a test tube containing water, chemical energy in the water is transferred to heat energy and the water heats up The hotter the water gets, the more energy there is in the food Teacher demo experiment
