Academic Objective: 80% of SWBAT earn a ¾ on the proficiency scale by answering critical thinking questions about Algonquin & Iroquois Culture in an appointments protocol by the end of the lesson.

2 Chunk 1: Appointment Setting
When I say “go”, walk around and set appointments for each chunk of the lesson by asking people if they will please be your your appointment partner, and then writing their names on the left side of your paper where it says “partner name” next to each chunk of the lesson. Do this and be back in you original seats in three minutes.

Appointment 1: -Why did the Iroquois tribes form the League of the Iroquois? -Which group, the Algonquin or the Iroquois, had the better canoes? How were they better?

5 Appointment 2: -Which tribes were in the Iroquois Confederacy? -What is the difference between a Wigwam and a Longhouse?

6 Appointment 3: -What are the “Three Sisters”? -Why did the Algonquin and the Iroquois mainly dress in clothing made of deerskin?

7 Appointment 4: -What is a clan?
-The Algonquin and the Iroquois decorated their clothing with feathers and porcupine quills. What does this tell you about their way of life? -What is a clan?

8 Appointment 5: -What does Adirondack mean?
-The Haudenosaunee were nicknamed Iroquois by their enemies. Why do you think they got this nickname?

9 Exit Ticket Reflect on today’s lesson up until where it says “STOP HERE” Put your packet in your folder Put your folder on the round table Pack up Stand next to your seat Wait to be dismissed
