Field Program – Yield Trials
Approx yield trial plots in NC Five NC locations: Clayton, Kinston (Caswell and Cunningham farms), Lewiston, Salisbury Up from 6000 in 2011 Mixed results with low yields at some locations (drought, heat stress) Additional 5300 plots coordinated from Raleigh Two public, five private company cooperators Heat and drought stress at some locations

Germplasm in trials S2 families derived from GEM breeding crosses
GEM released lines GEM breeding crosses Potential new germplasm for breeding crosses

Nursery Approx. 3000 rows plus 1200 rows in isolation
Six GEM breeding crosses for S1 development Six GEM S1’s for S2 development Allelic Diversity (450 rows in summer, 120 in winter) Forty-one new breeding crosses produced (24 GEM x GEM and 17 tropical x GEM) GEM bulk increases for released lines and potential releases
