Ceremonial swearing-in
2
The Senate voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the highest court in the land and then Judge Kavanaugh was sworn in Saturday as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court. President Trump held a ceremonial swearing-in Monday at the White House for Brett Kavanaugh. Mr. Trump led the ceremony by addressing the crowd in the East Room of the White House. Former Justice Anthony Kennedy, whose retirement paved the way for Kavanaugh, administered the judicial oath for a second time (the first time it was done by Chief Justice John Roberts and Kennedy). President Trump used the moment as an opportunity to introduce Kavanaugh as the newly appointed Supreme Court Justice and to also apologize to Kavanaugh and his family for what the president referred to as ,”the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure."

In Other News With his 62-yard touchdown pass during the Saints' Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins, Drew Brees passed Peyton Manning's 71,940 career passing yards to move into first place on the all-time list. On Wednesday, officials will begin rounding up 1,000 wild horses from federal land in Northern California and putting them up for sale and adoption. Pregnant and younger horses will likely be adopted, federal officials say, but older horses will be sent to another corral where they could be sold for as little as $1 each to ranchers, horse trainers and other buyers – apparently including those who might ship them to slaughterhouses. The horses live on a protected territory inside Modoc National Forest near the Oregon border. It's home to the largest herd of wild horses in the country managed by the US Forest Service. Last month, federal officials said they've exceeded their limit for how many horses the area can hold. The plateau is 258,000 acres, but there's not nearly enough vegetation and water to support all the horses. The horses have been feeding on limited foliage and drinking up most of the water supply, leaving little behind for other wild animals.
