A writing (graphic) organizer that visually organizes key components in a paragraph:
topic sentence, supporting details, and closing sentence
each of these forms a different “piece” of hamburger

4. How to use the model… 1. Discuss 3 main points of paragraph/story:
A. Introduction (top bun)
B. Internal or supporting information (the filling)
C. Conclusion (bottom bun)
Have students write a topic sentence that clearly states what paragraph will be about
Students write several supporting details that give more information about the topic
Instruct students on ways to write a conclusion that restates topic sentence
