Much like the coaches and young players, parents can also adhere to a code of conduct, providing a set of behavioural guidelines. A sample code of conduct is on the next page, you can edit the language to use with parents at your sport/club. You can also edit the heads icon and insert your own club badge. Rate this tool! Give us your feedback.

2 PARENTS’ CODE OF CONDUCT
We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in sport. Remember sport is a time for young people to develop their physical, psychological and social skills - winning isn’t everything. I WILL: Remember that children play for FUN. Applaud effort and good play as well as success. Always respect the match officials’ decisions. Remain within the designated spectators’ area. Let the coach do their job, and not confuse the players by telling them what to do. Encourage players to respect the rules, opposition, referee, teammates and themselves. Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning. Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour. I understand that if I do not follow this code of conduct, the club may take the following action: Issue a verbal warning. Requested to meet with the club officials. Asked to leave the training/match venue by the club. Requested by the club not to attend future games. Requested to leave the club along with your child. I agree to abide by these principles and do all I can to develop my own ability, enjoy sport and learn valuable life lessons. Player’s name: Parent’s name: Date:
