1 The zebrafish Microarray process
By: Alexis Fahey

2 The process begins with placing a male and female Zebrafish in a tank
The process begins with placing a male and female Zebrafish in a tank. What do you think will be the result of this? Zebrafish Embryos!

3 Then, the Zebrafish embryo gets isolated onto a slide or chip
Then, the Zebrafish embryo gets isolated onto a slide or chip. A gene gets microinjected into the zebrafish embryo. Do you think it’s the cancerous gene or the unknown gene that gets microinjected first? It’s the P53 Mutated gene genetically engineered with Green Fluorescent gene(One Stranded) that gets injected first.

4 Reverse Transcription!
The unknown gene comes out as RNA and gets extracted from the cell and creates a complementary cDNA sequence. What is this process called? Reverse Transcription! cDNA sequence with genetically engineered green fluorescence gene.

5 Afterwards, the cDNA molecule gets microinjected into the zebrafish embryo. The DNA molecule will hybridize if there is a match and identify whether the gene is cancerous. Do you think there’s going to be a match?

6 There’s a match! The Zebrafish embryo will glow through their invisible vertebrate structure letting scientists know that the gene has been identified. Please ask any questions that to the best of my ability I will try to answer. Thank You!
