2 The Bill of Rights The U.S. Constitution’s first ten amendments are known as the Bill of Rights The First Amendment contains five freedoms for every American

3 Freedom of RELIGION The government cannot make an official religion
People may attend whichever church they want, or no church at all.

4 Freedom of SPEECH Government cannot stop us from saying what we think.
We can criticize the government without fear of punishment

5 Freedom of PRESS Government cannot control what we print.
People have the right to be heard.

6 Freedom of ASSEMBLY People are free to meet
People are free to join organizations

7 Freedom of PETITION People can request changes in government
