BE PREPARED Have materials with you and know due dates.
Everyday you should have the following: Book Writing Utensil Notebook Assignment Items left in lockers are a lost cause. Once you step into the classroom you are on my time. If the assignment was left in your locker it will not be accepted.
12
Do YOUR Work Complete the regular credit opportunity with your best effort. No CHEATING This means no copying homework, test, quizzes or anything else you may think to copy. You are a SCHOLAR trust your judgment and knowledge only. Late assignments are not accepted. You will receive a credit of 0 for the assignment.
14
Attendance is KEY I cant say it enough……. Come to class.
Missing 1 day in a science class is like missing 2 weeks in other courses. Make up missing work when absent. You are not allowed to leave my class at any time for any personal events Examples: paying dues, going to turn in work with other teachers, have conversations with other teachers etc. School events are exceptions when proper documentation has been received from the teacher/advisor that is overseeing the event.
16
Course Intensity I teach to the bell. You work to the bell.
If we are in the midst of a lesson, conversation, or lab we will wrap up and then be dismissed.
18
Make-Up Work We ALWAYS do something. Be sure to get your missing assignments. Your first stop is your table partners for what was missed. (typically lecture) Check my website for assignments, handouts etc. Work that was due the day of your absence is due no later than the next day. After which it will not be accepted.
20
Group Work We do group assignments, conversations, labs, projects and maybe just maybe a test. Choose your groups carefully (when you do have the opportunity to choose.) You will be responsible for grading your peers on the work that they present, work with you on and the information that they distribute. Be sure that YOU are doing your best!
22
Use your time WISELY! Time is of the essence. Work smartly.
Come prepared. If additional time is needed it will be on a case by case basis.
25
Show Respect Value yourself. Be honest and ethical, and practice strong moral values. Treat all members of the school community and all visitors with politeness and respect. Honor the ideas and opinions of others. Offer to help. Be responsible with property and belongings.
26
Responsibility for Coursework
Bring notebook, textbook, planner, and appropriate writing tools to class. Know due dates, and submit all coursework on time. All assignments are posted on the bulletin board and on the class Web site.
27
Promote Lifelong Learning
You can develop lifelong learning traits: By showing curiosity about human nature and how the world works. By seeking and valuing diversity. By persisting in seeking out new solutions. By using your unique talents and intelligence to promote positive change. By learning and applying technology tools to solve problems.
28
Policies Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom.
Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Major assignments and projects can be resubmitted. They will be scored at a 10% deduction. Absences Ask team members or a classmate first for assignments. Each absence has a one-day grace period.
29
Grading Grades are based on the accumulation of points.
Points are based on: Class participation (effort) Completion of assignments (daily work) Major projects, exams, and self-reflection Grades are posted online and updated every 2-Weeks. Our Grading Scale 90-100% = A 80-89% = B 70-79% = C 60-69% = D Below 60% = F Grades are calculated on cumulative percentage and are rounded up whenever possible.
30
My Pledge to Students I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. I will work with you to meet learning goals. I will offer extra help and alternative assessments should you require them.
