3 Stanza Two Stanza begins with ref to A.J.
She wore men’s boots She does traditionally male tasks. Practical when she wore any. Usually barefoot- hardy/ at one with nature — I can see her strong foot, stained with peat, Reflects her life on the croft/ traditional/ close connection with the land paddling with the treadle of the spinningwheel reflects rhythmic movement while her right hand drew yarn marvellously out of the air. As if she is some kind of magician. Sense of childish wonder at the process and her expertise. Enjambment of the three lines

8 Ideas There is the idea within the last few lines that he regrets the loss of her, and his inability to communicate, but also regrets the loss of what she represents-the traditional way of life, and the traditional language.
