Note the use of the expression il faut in the following sentences:
À l’école, il faut étudier.
At school, it is necessary for one to study.
Pour être heureux, il faut avoir des amis.
To be happy, you (people, we) it is necessary to have friends
Pour aller en Chine, il faut avoir un visa.
To go to China, it is necessary to have a visa.
To express a GENERAL OBLIGATION or NECESSITY, the French use the construction:
il faut + INFINITIVE
