During your discussions yesterday from the article “Sports in America”, many of you identified opinions similar to these: Sports bring American communities together. Sports play a valuable role in American lives. Discuss- which opinion do you agree with? Why? I can identify the evidence that supports an author’s opinion

Write your opinion at the top of the page With your group, sort through the evidence strips to identify evidence that supports the opinions each of them recorded. For example- My opinion: Sports bring American communities together Evidence: The local high school football or basketball game represents the biggest events of the week for residents in many communities across the United States. Today, you are going to have an opinion given to you and you will focus on organizing your evidence. Tomorrow, you will work as writers as forming your own opinion. 1.Write in the author’s opinion you agreed with. 2. Reread each evidence strip and PARAPHRASE. Then, record each PARAPHRASED evidence on your organizer. I can create an organizational structure to record evidence that supports the author’s opinion. I can paraphrase evidence to record on my organizational structure.
