The Riggins Report Classroom News for the week of December 17-19, 2018 What we’re learning: Notes: Christmas break is almost here! We’re in the home stretch now! This is going to be a super fun week and I cannot wait to have lots of Christmas fun with the kids! Here’s a look at what we’ll be doing this week: Word Study: We will be reviewing our recent patterns this week and practicing our syllabication skills with some Christmas activities. Reading: We will be wrapping up our westward expansion unit on Monday. The kids have really enjoyed this unit and they have learned a lot! Tuesday we will be working on finding text-based evidence with some fun Christmas reading passages. Math: Module 4 continues this week with using manipulatives and math drawings to further solidify the concepts of addition and subtraction with regrouping. We will also be doing some fun Christmas math projects on Tuesday! On our Christmas Party day, we will be taking a journey on the Polar Express! We’ll have hot chocolate and goodies while we party and watch the movie! Your child may wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed animal that day! Teacher’s Notes: A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered to send items for our party! We had an OVERWHELMING response and I’m so thankful for all of the awesome parents I have been blessed with this year! Congrats to Rudy the Reindeer and Pepper the Penguin! They are great classroom helpers!
