2 Figure 1 Factors Predisposing Loci to Double-Strand Breaks and Translocations Genome-wide translocation mapping identifies translocations that form when a DNA double-strand break (DSB) is artificially introduced in a defined location by the I-SceI meganuclease (center). The majority of induced DSBs are repaired locally, but many form translocation junctions with endogenous DSBs. These endogenous DSBs, often mediated by AID activity, occur at transcription start sites (left), class switch recombination sites (top), and elsewhere throughout the genome (right).
