10 October 15 - 19, 2018 Notes: Reading – Theme Assessment Thursday
We will work on our writing task for the Hurricane Unit. Students will write a narrative about a character who experiences a hurricane firsthand. Language Quiz Friday Dialogue Please review Bellwork pages in binder for review and the study guide W.O.W – “Words of the Week” No assessment “tele: Greek root for “far away” Math – Test –Tuesday, Fluency Quiz – Friday (mixed multiplication facts) Unit 3: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division: (Eureka Math Module 3) Tuesday’s test will cover area, perimeter, and multiplicative comparison word problems involving area & perimeter. We will then work on multiplying by multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000. Multiplication fact fluency is essential for our work in this unit. Please study facts nightly. *** Fluency quizzes are given weekly! Fluency quizzes will be averaged together for one grade at the end of the 2nd 9 Weeks grading period. Science – Test – Tuesday Unit 2: Earth’s Processes: Students will continue to explore rocks, fossils, and tectonic plates. We are looking forward to Diamond Del visiting our school for our gem mining adventure on November 1st and 2nd! Please send in permission slips along with $5.00 fee as soon as possible. Notes: The food bank would like to provide families with a complete Thanksgiving meal this year. They are requesting the following items: cake mix, instant potatoes, stuffing mix, and canned cranberry sauce. Please consider donating these or other non-perishable food items. Social Studies - In-class graded assignment Unit 2: The Movement of People: A Historical Perspective We will guide the students through completing a DBQ (Document-Based Questions) on explorers.
