Reading – Main Idea RETEST Wednesday We will read more related books to our Hurricane Unit. Students will read informational texts to learn about hurricanes and their impact on Louisiana. Language Test Thursday Figurative Language: Similes and Metaphors W.O.W – “Words of the Week” Unit 3 Test Thursday Definitions attractive burden consent dependable indicate previous qualify response shabby thaw urgent vanity Math – Test – next Tuesday, 10/16 Unit 3: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division: Our work in this unit begins with perimeter and area. Students will investigate and use the formulas for area and perimeter of rectangles. They will also be able to solve multiplicative comparison word problems as well as multi-step real world problems by applying the area and perimeter formulas. ***No Fluency quiz this week! Fluency quiz average for the 1st 9 Weeks has been added into our online grading system. Although there is no quiz, students should still be studying facts! Weekly quizzes will resume next week. Notes: The food bank would like to provide families with a complete Thanksgiving meal this year. They are requesting the following items: cake mix, instant potatoes, stuffing mix, and canned cranberry sauce. Please consider donating these or other non-perishable food items. Be on the lookout information on Red Ribbon Week, Book Fair, and Family Learning Nights…coming soon! Science – In-class graded assignment, Test – next Tuesday, 10/16 Unit 2: Earth’s Processes: Students will continue to explore rocks and fossils. We are looking forward to Diamond Del visiting our school for our gem mining adventure on November 1st and 2nd! Please send in permission slips along with $5.00 fee as soon as possible. Social Studies - In-class graded assignment Unit 2: The Movement of People: A Historical Perspective We will continue to examine several primary and secondary sources to discover the motivations and challenges of early European explorers. We will also make discoveries about the European colonization of North America. Read 20 mins/Log ELA Pages due Thurs.
