First check the Louis Database to ensure it has not already been transcribed
Check to see if there is a NIMAS file and release it to APH
Go to to download the appropriate order form (braille or large print)
Submit the completed form with the following:
Federal Quota Order Form or Purchase Order
A photocopy of the front and back cover of the textbook
A photocopy of the front and back of the title page

You can order a textbook title that has never been transcribed before with a five year copyright restriction. These are called Make to Order Textbooks (hardcopy braille)
You can also order a braille textbook from our collection that you find in the Louis database (hardcopy braille)
All APH braille textbook files are available for download from the APH File Repository. Those braille ready files can be embossed locally or used on refreshable braille displays

You can order any textbook title to be created in the APH Traditional Enlargement process with no copyright date restrictions. These are called Make to Order Textbooks
The Traditional APH Enlargement process is printed on 11 1/2" x 14" paper in full color. The book is exactly like the original print textbook with text enlarged to a 14 point font, larger in some cases depending on the font size in the original text.

APH Large Print Option
You can order any textbook titles to be created in the APH Large Print process with a five year copyright restriction.
The APH Large Print process results in a large print textbook in standard textbook size with a variety of fonts, font sizes (18 point minimum), and in full color.
This process takes into consideration research collected and conducted by APH, including the APH Large Print Guidelines for Optimal Readability, and was field tested by the University of Louisville.
