What happened after 1960? After Sharpeville:
Before the ANC and PAC had a chance to rethink their political strategies they were banned in 1960. It became illegal to spread or quote written material

Nelson Mandela Nelson Mandela went into hiding, organising MK. He used many disguises, often a chauffer or gardener. Often he only just avoided the police. In 1962 he travelled to several African countries and Britain talking to political leaders. The Bureau of State Security (BOSS) arrested him on his return to South Africa. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
