Social Media and College Admission/Job Search
40% of college admissions officers check social media to see if an applicant is a good fit for that college 70 % of U.S. business managers say they decided not to hire a job candidate based upon something found out about the candidate online. So… Remember…once you post something online, it’s there forever. Don’t upload something you don’t want EVERYONE to see.
17
Be Smart about Social Media
Keep it Private. Don’t post anything which reveals our personal details. Don’t upload anything that might embarrass you at a later date. Remember, once you hit send, you have lost control of that image or comment. Never be pressured into taking pictures of yourself that you wouldn’t want other people to see. Always log off when using a shared computer. Check your privacy settings! Make sure that only people that you approve can see your posts. Do not click on suspicious links. Never meet up with anyone you meet online. If someone asks to meet you, tell someone!
