Pick a Nutrient (Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Vitamins, Minerals or Water) OR a specific Vitamin or Mineral- you can research more on your own time, or use the book, class notes and handouts provided You will create a newspaper article about this particular nutrient that you chose focusing on the good news, bad news, what foods have it and why it is so important. You will outline first, and then write out your final draft on the template OR create your own (Typed and Printed) Must include a picture (drawn or printed)

5 The Daily Nutrient Fats Healthy people stay healthy everyday
Healthy people stay healthy everyday - Since 2000 Fats Too much saturated fat in ones diet may cause health problems such as heart disease. How is it that something that causes harm to the body can taste so good and be so beneficial? We need to focus on the unsaturated fats (good fats), these include vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds. We need to stay away from saturated fats, such as dairy products and animal fats. Yet, these taste so good. What then is a person to do? Eat in moderation, focus on the good fats and exercise to get rid of the bad. Making sure you eat the right amount of healthy fats is important for your body to stay healthy and live a happy and long life. Food is a part of our daily life. We eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and many meals in between. Yet, do we really know how these foods play a role in our daily health? Fats are a nutrient that provides the body with short term energy. We need energy for daily tasks, therefore fats are essential. Then why are so many people getting sick and obese from these teeny tiny nutrients? Could it be that there is more to fats that we think? There are two main types of fats that we eat. One is unsaturated and the other is saturated.
