Iran the nation as we know it was known as Persia until the early twentieth century.
Iran is located in southwestern Asia and is bordered by Iraq and Turkey to the west and Afghanistan and Pakistan to the east. Turkmenistan, Armenia and Azerbaijan, all formerly part of the Soviet Union border Iran to the north, along with the Caspian Sea.
Iran also has access to the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman in the south.

It all began about 2,000 years before the birth of Christ with the coming of the ARYANS
Aryans = a large band of tribesmen who migrated from the southern steppes of Russia to settle in an area we call Iran today.
The name Iran comes from the ancient Persian Aryanam which means “the lands of the Aryans.”
The Aryan nomads gave rise to two groups – the MEDES and the PERSIANS
The Medes settled in the north and east
The Persians settled in an area to the south
