2 What is an MNA? A Member of the National Assembly (MNA) is a person elected to a seat in the National Assembly who serves as a representative of one of Quebec’s 125 ridings/electoral districts.

3 Who can be an MNA? •Any Canadian citizen 18 years of age and older can become an MNA who has been domiciled in Quebec for at least six months. Lise Thériault is the longest sitting MNA. She was elected in 2002 for the first time. Catherine Fournier is one of the youngest sitting MNA she was first elected at 25.

5 What does an MNA do? An MNA has no set job description, but some duties include: Representing constituents’ (any person who lives in an MNA’s riding) concerns Assisting constituents Serving on committees Proposing, modifying and debating legislation Participating in National Assembly debates and discussing and amending bills.
