4. Feral hog depredation on crops, livestock and wildlife can be extensive.

5. Feral hogs can carry and transmit many diseases such as pseudorabies, swine brucellosis, tuberculosis, tick-fever, anthrax and tularemia.

6. Agreement with ODAFF
ODAFF contracted with state FFA chapters to build head gates for feral hog traps
OCC staff distributed one gate to each of the 84 conservation districts
Districts are to be reimbursed up to $500 for materials to complete the trap.
Districts are to make the trap available to landowners for a nominal fee.

8. Agreement with ODAFF
Districts are to report the number of times the trap is rented and the number of hogs captured.
Lessons Learned:
- Not all press is good press!!!
One trap will not solve the problem.
Districts are not created equally – there can be challenges.

9. Agreement with NRCS
Through a Contributions Agreement, funds were made available for Conservation Districts to host outreach meetings to educate landowners on effective methods of eliminating feral hogs.
Requirements –
Meeting must be hosted by at least 2 conservation districts
Submit Proposal which included a draft agenda, proposed date/location and list of potential speakers.

10. Agreement with NRCS Requirements Continued – Submit Proposed Budget
Funds available from OCC could not be used to purchase food. Funds could be used for meeting rooms, supplies, advertising costs, speaker fees and/or handout materials. Show any in-kind or matching dollars expected to be received.

12. Agreement with NRCS
Host Districts must be willing to ask participants to complete a survey and provide sign in sheets for attendance.
Results –
10 meetings hosted by 28 Conservation Districts and 1 RC&D Council
600 in attendance
Each participating district received a $500 administrative fee
