Standard# 9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice: The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the needs of each learner. Name of Artifact: Why I want to teach? Date: March, 3, 2014 Course: EDUC 101 Brief Description: I interviewed myself in this assignment. Through which I was able to learn about my own teaching strategies and viewpoints as to how and what ways I would like to teach, where I want to teach and what strategies I would like to imply in my own classroom. After this session I had a clear idea about making my decision more firm and in choosing teaching as a career. Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard # 9 Professional Learning and Ethical Practice, I introduced my view points as to how I would like to teach and what will be my contribution towards teaching. This assignment allows me to ask myself why I want to teach?

3 Why do I want to teach? I want to serve mankind, especially children.
(live a life of service to others, ) I want to nurture children and be the person that lifts them up. As a teacher I will have great power to change lives. (This power will be humbling, exhilarating, overwhelming, frightening, but exceedingly worthwhile.)
