1 L.O. To ask interesting questions

2 This year, we are going to go on a journey of discovery
This year, we are going to go on a journey of discovery! We will be linking with another school in Bradford and will be meeting them at different points in the year. Not only will we meet our link class, we will also find out more about them (and ourselves) by sharing information in different ways.

3 Talk to your partner and share initial thoughts you have about linking
Talk to your partner and share initial thoughts you have about linking. Can you think of any adjectives to describe your feelings? nervous excited curious unsure

4 What does curious mean?

5 If you are curious, you are eager to learn or know something.

6 We are going to think of questions to ask the children in our link class. This is a great opportunity for us to find out more about them as a class and to also find out more about the children in our link class as individuals as they will be answering our questions.

7 In groups of 4, think of different types of questions we could ask our link class. We want a mixture of big, open questions and also specific factual questions. We will then pick a selection of each to send across to our link class. What is the name of your headteacher? What do you want to be when you grow up? What do you like to do in your spare time?

8 Anyone can scribe BUT ideas must be shared first and listened by all Everyone needs to be involved in sharing ideas We can disagree BUT we do it respectfully

9 Open questions will give us different answers and these will normally be answers be wouldn’t be able to guess. This information will really tell us more about a person. Can you think of any examples of closed questions? E.g. How old are you? Can you give an example of an open question? E.g. What is your favourite book? In your groups, how many open questions can you think of?

10 In your groups, circle your best open questions
In your groups, circle your best open questions. We will go around and each group will share their question (no repeats!) until we have 8 great questions to send to our link class!
