3 Agenda Review of last time
Take notes on how to use plastic bottles and pop cans to make pendants Watch demo of plastic bottles and pop cans Take notes on how to make a paper clip clasp Make a paper clip clasp Fill out and turn in your proposal.

4 Last time We took notes on how to do candy wrapper origami links
We each made 3 of our own links and put them in our books as an example. Than if we got done early we worked on our proposals that are due today.

5 There are lots of things to do with plastic bottles…
Melt into bead flowers. Be carful it needs to be done safely in a well ventilated area. Cut them into shapes that create repetition. Make sure they all look the same or they will not look good. Layer with paper beads or other recycled materials to create texture. Remember everything you use needs to be recycled materials.

6 There are lots of things to do with pop cans…
You can punch out shapes and rivet them together. You can use the pop tabs as jump rings to make your jewelry. You can make lots of them and use them overlapping to create texture.

7 Step 1 Collect bottles or pop cans
You will need to think how many pieces at what size you will be making so you bring the right amount. Whatever you use it needs to be cleaned.

8 Step 2 Make a template or find a punch for the shape and size you need. You will need to make multiples and they should look exactly the same. If not the final piece will look unorganized and thrown together.

9 Step 3 Make lots of your pattern
To make sure you have enough always make extras.

10 Step 4 Clean edges and assemble your jewelry.

11 Demonstration Listen and follow along for this demonstration on how to make a pop bottle or pop can pendant.

12 Paper clip clasp

13 Step 1 Flatten your paper clip out so it is a strait piece of wire.

14 Step 2 Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, working 2-inches from one end of the wire, make a 90-degree bend then push the wire so it is folded onto itself. By bending it first you make a sharp bend rather than a loop. Compress the bend so it is a clean seam.

15 Step 3 Using round-nose pliers, with the tip of the pliers placed at the top of the bend in the wire, rotate the pliers away from you to form a loop.

16 Step 4 Rotate the wire so the loop is facing you. Place the larger portion of the barrel of the round-nose pliers about 1/4 inch down from the loop made in Step 3.

17 Step 5 Rotate the pliers away from you to form another loop in the wire. This loop will be the hook portion of the clasp.

18 Step 6 With the hook now formed, trim the shorter length of the wire to about 3/8 inch from the bottom of the hook. The shorter end will be tucked inside the wrapped loop formed next so can be cut shorter or left longer.

19 Step 7 Using the tip of the chain-nose pliers, placed on the longer length of wire where it meets the shorter length, make a 90-degree bend away from the shorter length and out to the side.

20 Step 8 Using the round-nose pliers, begin to form a wrapped loop, forming the loop so it is positioned at the base of the clasp. Tip: Depending on how you will connect this clasp to your stringing material and how you want the clasp to lie, you can form this loop so it is perpendicular or parallel to the hook of the clasp.

21 Step 9 Finish the wrapped loop. Using flush-cutters, trim the excess wire then use the tip of the chain-nose pliers to tuck the end of the last wrap down toward the clasp so it doesn't catch on anything.

22 Jump ring or figure 8 will finish off the other side

23 Studio Time Finish your clasp and tape into book next to notes.
Finish your proposal and turn in sticking out of your hanging folder. Make sure you bring your supplies for next time.
