2 Was Saul Saved on the Road to Damascus?
Acts 22:3-16

3 1. There Was No Rejoicing Saul did not leave the presence of the Lord rejoicing in his salvation (Acts 9:9). Ohers rejoiced when they were saved. Acts 8:8, 39; 16:34

4 2. There Was No Peace Salvation brings peace with God. Romans 5:1
Saul acted like one who was yet to be reconciled unto God. Romans 5:8-11

5 3. Saul Was Still In His Sins
Saul was told to arise and be baptized for a specific purpose: “and wash away your sins” (Acts 22:16) No one is saved prior to and without water baptism. Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21

6 4. Saul Was Saved Without Calling on the Name of the Lord
Saul had yet to do this (Acts 22:16). To “call on the name of the Lord” to be saved is to respond to the authority of the Lord and accept salvation on His terms, not on ours.

7 5. Saul Was Sent to Damascus To Be Told What He Must Do
The spreading of the gospel to the lost is a work that has been given to mankind. Rom. 10:13-15; Acts 8:26, 29; 10:6 Saul was not told to believe, repent, or pray. He was told to “arise and be baptized.”

8 “and now why are you waiting
“and now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts 22:16
