Was Saul Saved on the Road to Damascus?

1. There Was No Rejoicing Saul did not leave the presence of the Lord rejoicing in his salvation (Acts 9:9). Ohers rejoiced when they were saved. Acts 8:8, 39; 16:34

2. There Was No Peace Salvation brings peace with God. Romans 5:1
Saul acted like one who was yet to be reconciled unto God. Romans 5:8-11

3. Saul Was Still In His Sins
Saul was told to arise and be baptized for a specific purpose: “and wash away your sins” (Acts 22:16) No one is saved prior to and without water baptism. Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21

4. Saul Was Saved Without Calling on the Name of the Lord
Saul had yet to do this (Acts 22:16). To “call on the name of the Lord” to be saved is to respond to the authority of the Lord and accept salvation on His terms, not on ours.

5. Saul Was Sent to Damascus To Be Told What He Must Do
The spreading of the gospel to the lost is a work that has been given to mankind. Rom. 10:13-15; Acts 8:26, 29; 10:6 Saul was not told to believe, repent, or pray. He was told to “arise and be baptized.”

“and now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts 22:16
