The 7th Day of Unleavened Bread
On the Meaning of the 7th Day of Unleavened Bread
3
Instructions for the Passover
"This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a pilgrimage festival to Yahuwah-- a lasting ordinance. For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Yisrael. Shemot/Exodus 12:14-15
4
Instructions for the First Passover
On the first day hold a set apart assembly (miqra qodesh), and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat-- that is all you may do. Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because it was on this very day that I brought your divisions out of Mitzrayim. Celebrate this day as a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. Shemot/Exodus 12:16-17
5
Instructions for Unleavened Bread
In the first month you are to eat bread made without yeast, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day. Shemot/Exodus 12:18 On the fifteenth day of that month Yahuwah's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. On the first day hold a set apart assembly and do no regular work. For seven days present an offering made to Yahuwah by fire. And on the seventh day hold a set apart assembly and do no regular work.'“ Leviticus 23:6-8
6
Coming Out of Egypt When Pharaoh let the people go, Elohim did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For Elohim said, "If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Mitzrayim." So Elohim led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The sons of Yisrael went up out of Mitzrayim armed for battle. Shemot/Exodus 13:17-18
7
Coming Out of Egypt Mosheh took the bones of Yoseph with him because Yoseph had made the sons of Yisrael swear an oath. He had said, "Elohim will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place. After leaving Succoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. Shemot/Exodus 13:19-20
8
Coming Out of Egypt By day Yahuwah went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people. Shemot/Exodus 13:21-22
9
In all the travels of the sons of Yisrael, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out-- until the day it lifted. So the cloud of Yehovah was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the house of Yisrael during all their travels. (Shemot/Exodus 40:36-38)
10
Travelling in the Wilderness
On the day that the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle--the tent of the Appointment--and from evening until morning there was a fiery appearance over the tabernacle. This is the way it used to be continually: The cloud would cover it by day, and there was a fiery appearance by night. (Bamidbar 9:15-16)
11
Coming Out of Egypt Then Yahuwah said to Mosheh, "Tell the sons of Yisrael to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon. Pharaoh will think, 'The sons of Yisrael are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.' Shemot/Exodus 14:1-3
12
Coming Out of Egypt And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Mitzrites will know that I am Yahuwah." So the sons of Yisrael did this. When the king of Mitzrayim was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, "What have we done? We have let the sons of Yisrael go and have lost their services!“ Shemot/Exodus 14:4-5
13
Coming Out of Egypt So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Mitzrayim, with officers over all of them. Yahuwah hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim, so that he pursued the sons of Yisrael, who were marching out boldly. The Mitzrites-- all Pharaoh's horses and chariots, horsemen and troops-- pursued the sons of Yisrael and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon. Shemot/Exodus 14:6-9
14
Coming Out of Egypt As Pharaoh approached, the sons of Yisrael looked up, and there were the Mitzrites, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to Yahuwah. They said to Mosheh, "Was it because there were no graves in Mitzrayim that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Mitzrayim? Didn't we say to you in Mitzrayim, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Mitzrites'? It would have been better for us to serve the Mitzrites than to die in the desert!“ Shemot/Exodus 14:10-12
15
Coming Out of Egypt Mosheh answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance Yahuwah will bring you today. The Mitzrites you see today you will never see again. Yahuwah will fight for you; you need only to be still." Then Yahuwah said to Mosheh, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the sons of Yisrael to move on. Shemot/Exodus 14:13-15
16
Coming Out of Egypt Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the sons of Yisrael can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Mitzrites so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Mitzrites will know that I am Yahuwah when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.“ Shemot/Exodus 14:16-18
17
Coming Out of Egypt Then the angel of Elohim, who had been traveling in front of Yisrael's army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Mitzrayim and Yisrael. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long. Shemot/Exodus 14:19-20
18
Coming Out of Egypt Then Mosheh stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night Yahuwah drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the sons of Yisrael went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. The Mitzrites pursued them, and all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. Shemot/Exodus 14:21-23
19
Coming Out of Egypt During the last watch of the night Yahuwah looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Mitzrite army and threw it into confusion. He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Mitzrites said, "Let's get away from the sons of Yisrael! Yahuwah is fighting for them against Mitzrayim.“ Shemot/Exodus 14:24-25
20
Coming Out of Egypt Then Yahuwah said to Mosheh, "Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Mitzrites and their chariots and horsemen.“ Mosheh stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Mitzrites were fleeing toward it, and Yahuwah swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen-- the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the sons of Yisrael into the sea. Not one of them survived. Shemot/Exodus 14:26-28
21
Coming Out of Egypt But the sons of Yisrael went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day Yahuwah saved Yisrael from the hands of the Mitzrites, and Yisrael saw the Mitzrites lying dead on the shore. And when the sons of Yisrael saw the great power Yahuwah displayed against the Mitzrites, the people feared Yahuwah and put their trust in him and in Mosheh his servant. Shemot/Exodus 14:29-31

The Song of Miriam Shemot/Exodus 15

The Red Sea Crossing Happened on the 7th Day
It was the only major event from the time of leaving Egypt till they crossed over into the region of Sinai The next events concern water to drink, the desert oasis of Elim and then manna The whole community of the sons of Yisrael set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Mitzrayim. Exodus 16:1
24
The Red Sea Crossing Happened on the 7th Day
This was an appointment Yahuwah met his people to deliver them It was a “salvation” event – the sons of Israel were delivered from death
25
Deliverance Theme Mosheh answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance Yahuwah will bring you today. The Mitzrites you see today you will never see again. Yahuwah will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:13-14 That day Yahuwah saved Yisrael from the hands of the Mitzrites, and Yisrael saw the Mitzrites lying dead on the shore. v30
26
Deliverance Theme My strength and my song is Yah; he has become my salvation. He is my Elohim, and I will praise him, my father's Elohim, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2
27
Red Sea Crossing = Crossing Over
“Hebrew” means one who has crossed over the River The sons of Israel transitioned on this day They became fully committed
28
Paul Calls This Event a Baptism
For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Mosheh in the cloud and in the sea. 1 Corinthians 10:1-2
29
Paul Calls This Event a Baptism
They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Messiah. 1 Corinthians 10:3-4
30
Paul Calls This Event an Example for Us
Nevertheless, Elohim was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert. Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 1 Corinthians 10:5-6
31
They Showed Us What NOT To Do
Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry." We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did-- and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. We should not test Yahuwah, as some of them did- - and were killed by snakes. 1 Corinthians 10:7-9
32
Don’t Follow Their Example
And do not grumble, as some of them did-- and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 1 Corinthians 10:10-12
33
What is Baptism? Hebrew miqvah is a washing As such, it indicates a cleansing of the body and of the conscience before Elohim …and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-- not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward Elohim. It saves you by the resurrection of Yahusha Messiah, 1 Peter 3:21
34
Baptism Seals Your Decision
There was no practical way to go back following their Baptism in the Sea of Reeds They could have figured a way to go back, but why would they want to? Yahuwah had performed two (2) mighty deliverances for them. Baptism has a greater impact on the one being baptized than it does for the on looking community at large
35
Unleavened Bread as a Prophetic Shadow
Yahuwah would bring deliverance to his people through the blood of the Lamb of Elohim Yahuwah immerses us in his protection and seals our decision to follow him Eating the unleavened bread is a picture of the life of the believer who removes all the spiritual leaven from his life (sanctification)
36
The 7th Day as a Prophetic Shadow
Yahuwah will one day perform YET ANOTHER great deliverance for his people at the resurrection, which is a redemption of our bodies because of the Lamb’s shed blood The judgment of our enemies follows and we will never see them again
37
How Many Great Deliverances Does Yahuwah Perform For Us?
1 Salvation by Lamb’s blood out of Egypt and out from the sins of the world (a substitutionary death) 2 Salvation from our Enemies and those who pursue us (baptism) 3 Countless deliverances throughout our lives as we repent and He saves us 4 The Salvation-Deliverance event when Messiah returns and redeems our bodies (resurrection)
